JTK Consult (JTK) was appointed to produce an expert report by way of an assessment of the problems caused by erosion and slope stability at the eastern boundary of Lot 1039. The problems came to light due to excavation works associated with the Construction of a Right of way to Lot 1024. An Assessment report was produced based on a site walk through, study of Geological Terrain Mapping and Rock Slope Mapping, highlighting specific areas of concern and the need for a detailed investigation was confirmed.

The report contained recommendations for immediate measures and preliminary long term proposals to manage the problem i.e. stabilization of the slopes, by improving the drainage at the upper slope locations, anchoring and guniting unstable formations, removing rock boulders and proposals for rock fencing. These recommendations were provided to improve the safety and aesthetics of the site. It was recommended that as part of a detailed design confirmation further testing including bore hole studies, and an updated geological terrain mapping and rock mapping be undertaken.

The overall approach was to provide the basis for reinstatement of the slope and to mimimise the risks associated with slope failure which could cause significant damage to the property development at the bottom of the slope.
