Vision City Project, Kuala Lumpur

JTK Consult (JTK) was engaged by Daewoo Corporation to monitor the concrete temperature of 2 nos. transfer beam mock-ups (Grade 40 and Grade 55) and 1 no. hot block (Grade 40) for the proposed Vision City project. The proposed Vision City project was envisaged to consist of a 30 storey luxury condominium, 6-level retail podium and 5-level basement car parking. The site was in a congested area and required highly organised construction to achieve timely progress.

The scope of work included installation of 8nos. thermocouples for each mock-up and 1 no. thermocouple for the hot block at specified locations. The temperature was then monitored at hourly intervals for up to 2 weeks. This was used as the basis to develop thermal modelling of the concrete and assessment of the risk of peak temperatures exceeding allowable limits.

JTK assisted the client in establishing the temperature characteristics of the proposed mixes and highlighted the controls required for concreting in Malaysia.
