Spina Bifida Association of Malaysia (SIBIAM)

The Spina Bifida Association Malaysia (SIBIAM) was set up in 2007 as a non-profit organisation to look after the interest of children and adults with Spina Bifida and its related disorders.

Spina Bifida is a condition that affects the spine and the spinal cord of an unborn child, leaving the child with varying degrees of paralysis that can lead to other physical and emotional challenges in the growing years.

Besides their core medical and social problems, the affected children have differing needs and recurring expenses in areas of personal aid, basic mobility and therapy equipments, all of which are necessary to enhance their ability to receive an education, socialise and enjoy an improved quality of life.

JTK Consult Sdn Bhd has been an active sponsor and supporter of the organisation since 2011. Ir Dr Kriban is currently the General Secretary of SIBIAM. In June 2017 he was instrumental in coordinating a fund raising concert which raised over RM 250,000 for Sibiam. Through his efforts since 2011 he has helped raise almost RM 500K for the organisation including pledges in kind from JTK business partners and clients. This has been disbursed to alleviate the financial difficulties many families face with purchase of mobility aids, by organising home visits and publicising the nature of the illness to raise awareness among patients, doctors and public authorities.
